UAE Residence Visa Process

UAE Residence Visa is short term permit that allows expatriates to continue living in UAE. UAE allows 1, 2, 3, 5 and 10-years visas for foreigners based on certain conditions and prerequisites. Most common visa validity is for two years. After which you can renew visa as many times as you want after each expiry. Residency visa is applied once the person is inside the country. You will be required to visit the country with an entry permit i.e., a visit or tourist visa which can then be converted into a Residency Visa.

VALIDITY OF VISA

One Year Visa:

Dependents such as parents of a person working in UAE can be eligible for 1 year Visa.

Two Year Residency Visa:

Employees working in mainland and their dependents are eligible for a two-year Residence Visa.

Three Year Residency Visa:

Investors who have a business in UAE Mainland and their families are eligible for a three-year UAE visa. Free zone employees and their dependents also get a three- year visa validity.

Five Year Golden Visa:

Investors, Entrepreneurs and Outstanding students may be eligible for obtaining a 5-year Visa after fulfilling requirements and conditions for this visa type.

10 Year Golden Visa:

Golden Visas may be granted to one of the following if they meet the Golden Visa criteria:

  • Investors
  • Entrepreneurs
  • Bright students and Special Talents with Research & Development Capabilities

WHO CAN APPLY FOR RESIDENCE VISA?

Pupils studying in UAE:

The university will be the sponsor of students who wish to come to UAE on a student visa.

Freelancers:

Freelancers can apply for license and will be eligible for the visa

Employees of Private Corporation

Company will apply and sponsor visa

Government Sector Employees

Government Entity will sponsor your visa while you are in UAE

Investors in a business in the UAE

The investor will be eligible for a visa under the sponsorship of his company’s registered name.

Property Investors

Property owner’s residence visa will be sponsored under the property he owns

All above applicants apart from Students can also sponsor and apply for their dependent visa including children, parents, family relatives and maids etc.

RESIDENCE VISA PROCESS

Immigration File Registration

You can visit an authorized typing center for the file opening process and Federal Authority for Citizenship (ICA) E- Channel registration.

Entry permit

After you are registered on the immigration website, second step is to apply for an entry permit. An Entry permit is a document, or a temporary visa issued by the GDRFA which can be applied under the sponsorship of a company or a family member living in UAE.

Change Status

Third step is to change the status of your UAE Visa from Entry Permit to Residence. This will also be done by an authorized typing center.

Medical Test

Once the status of your Visa is changed, you will be required to go for a medical screening at an approved Medical Center where you will have your Blood Test and X-ray done. These tests are done to check if a person has any infectious diseases.

Emirates ID

Once your medical screening is completed and cleared, you can then apply for an Emirates Identity Card.

Visa Stamping

The final stage is getting your visa stamped on your passport. You need to visit Immigration Office with your Original Passport and Emirates ID where the representative will place a visa sticker on your Passport.
